Dr Kurien Koshy

Dr. Kurien Koshy is a highly qualified and internationally trained Specialist Neurologist, Clinical Neurophysiologist, and Neuromuscular Disorders expert. He completed his MBBS with First Class, followed by an MD in Internal Medicine and a DM in Neurology from the prestigious Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore – a leading Indian quaternary academic and research medical center.
Following his dual doctorate degrees, Dr. Kurien Koshy served as Assistant Professor of Neurology at CMC Vellore before being selected for a fully funded post-doctoral fellowship in Neuromuscular Disorders and Clinical Neurophysiology at the University of Calgary, Canada. There, he trained with a globally recognized neuromuscular research group.
His qualifications further include the Specialty Certificate in Neurology from the Royal College of Physicians (UK), Diplomate of the European Board of Neurology (FEBN), and certification in Electrodiagnostic Medicine from the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ABEM). In 2012, he earned Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Neurology.
Dr. Kurien Koshy has held several senior clinical positions in Australia, including Staff Specialist Neurologist at Launceston General Hospital, Tasmania, Clinical Lead in Neurophysiology, and Staff Neurologist at Box Hill Hospital, Eastern Health and Northern Hospital in Melbourne. In 2021, he relocated to Hamilton, New Zealand, where he served as a full-time Staff Neurologist at Waikato Hospital until 2024.
He has broad expertise in managing a wide spectrum of neurological conditions, including Movement Disorders, Neuro-immunological and Demyelinating Disorders, Headaches, Epilepsy, and Cerebrovascular Diseases. His sub-specialty focus lies in Neuromuscular Medicine and Clinical Neurophysiology, with particular interest in the diagnosis and management of complex neuromuscular diseases such as neuropathies, myasthenic syndromes, and muscular dystrophies.
Dr. Kurien Koshy is proficient in a wide range of neurodiagnostic procedures, including Nerve Conduction Studies, Electromyography (EMG), Repetitive Nerve Stimulation, and Single-Fiber EMG.
